Rishik Perugu
Hi! I am a graduate student in the department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Irvine. I was previously at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where I did my Bachelor of Science (Research) and Master of Science from 2019 to 2024.
I am working in condensed matter theory under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Scaffidi. My current research interests are
- Operator growth and Krylov complexity in quantum many-body systems
- Bounds on quantum transport
- Thermalization, Quantum entanglement in isolated quantum many-body systems
- Many-body open quantum systems.
Here is my CV.

| Sep 29, 2025 | How does coherence in the phase of operator dynamics emerge despite the seemingly irreversible scrambling of local operators into increasingly complex ones? See my first preprint during my PhD, with Bryce Kobrin, Michael Flynn, and my doctoral advisor Thomas Scaffidi on arXiv. |
| Apr 21, 2025 | My first preprint titled Universal non-equilibrium dynamics of pure states and density-dependent thermalization in Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev model is now on arXiv. |
| Mar 20, 2025 | Attended my first APS Global Summit in Anaheim and gave a talk titled Non-equilibrium dynamics of pure states in the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev model. This work was done in collaboration with Arijit Haldar and my master’s thesis advisor Sumilan Banerjee. |
| Jan 10, 2025 | Attended a week-long winter school at National High Magnetic Field lab in Tallahassee, Florida. Exciting week of learning about FCIs among many other things, meeting new people and a tour of world’s strongest magnet! |
